Late Sunday night, Trump responded to comments Rouhani made by firing off a message to the Iranian leader, writing an angry tweet in all capital letters threatening him and Iran as a country.
Many critics found the yelling message odd and undignified, and demonstrated by writing their own versions of the tweet, replacing the threats with song lyrics, funny lines from TV shows and commercials, and more outlandish threats.
Mad: On July 22, President Trump fired off an all-caps tweet to Iranian President Rouhani (pictured July 24)
Strong words: He threatened that that Iran ‘will suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before’
OK CAPS TIME! Now hundreds of Twitter users are mocking him, including Zach Braff
INTO PIECES! The band Papa Roach wrote out the screaming lyrics to their song Last Resort
MTV: Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino quoted the anonymous letter to Sammi from the reality show

In a public address on Sunday, Rouhani had warned against any US attempt to destabilize Iran by encouraging protests, saying: ‘You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests.’
He waned that a US war with Iran would be ‘the mother of all wars,’ telling Trump: ‘Do not play with the lion’s tail, because you will regret it eternally.’
Trump did not take kindly to the warning and, much in his signature style, responded via Twitter.
‘To Iranian President Rouhani,’ he began, before switching to all caps. ‘NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE.
‘WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!’

ZIGGAZIG HA! Lindsay Ellis replaced Trump’s message with the lyrics to Wannabe by the Spice Girls

ONLY SUPERSTAAAARS… Song lyrics were quite popular in the tweets, like this one with Smash Mouth’s All Star
TAKE ME HOME: One Twitter user wrote the lyrics to Paradise City in all caps
THIS S*** IS BANANAS: Most people chose songs in which the singers are really enthusiastic, like Gwen Stefani in Hollaback Girl
DEAR SLIM: This person seems to be implying that Trump comes off as unhinged as the title character in Eminem’s song Stan
While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s ‘strong stance’ against Iran, many more condemned the way in which he addressed Rouhani, voicing fears that Trump’s threats are ‘dangerous’.
‘We’ve seen a lot of very bellicose words from Mr. Trump in the past, but this tweet … I think it takes it to a new level,’ said CNN military analyst Rick Francona, a former US Air Force intelligence officer who worked in the Middle East.
‘This seems to be a little out of character and really a little alarming for many people. This is really dangerous,’ he said.
But others zeroed in less on the danger and more of the absurdity of a US President threatening a foreign leader in an all-caps tweet.
In the hours that followed, hundreds wrote their own versions of the tweet, starting the same way that Trump did but replacing the all-caps part with their own messages.
OH NO ASBESTOS: Some people didn’t quote songs at all, but picked familiar lines from shows, movies, and commercials
NANCY JO: Brendan Davis subbed in Bling Ring thief Alexi Neiers’ hysterical call to a Vanity Fair writer from her reality show, Pretty Wild
DUN DUN: This one capped up the opening lines of every Law & Order: SVU episode
WHAT, LIKE IT’S HARD? Elle Woods’ take-down of Chutney’s alibi in Legally Blonde made an appearance
WIRE CASH: This woman used a Nigerian prince e-mail scam
Zach Braff quoted singer Kelis, writing: ‘To Iranian President Rouhani: MY MILKSHAKE BRINGS ALL THE BOYS TO THE YARD AND THEYRE LIKE, ITS BETTER THAN YOURS. DAMN RIGHT ITS BETTER THAN YOURS. I COULD TEACH YOU, BUT I HAVE TO CHARGE.’
The band Papa Roach turned to song lyrics too, adding their own to the tweet.
‘To Iranian President Rouhani: LOSING MY SIGHT, LOSING MY MIND, WISH SOMEBODY WOULD TELL ME I’M FINE, NOTHING’S ALRIGHT, NOTHING IS FINE, I’M RUNNING AND IM CRYING. CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES, THIS IS MY LAST RESORT.’
Comedian Zack Bornstein rick-rolled everyone by including the lyrics to Never Gonna Give You Up, while Lindsay Ellis wrote out the lyrics to Wannabe by the Spice Girls.
Even Vinny Guadagnino of Jersey Shore game chimed in, earning 78,000 likes for his funny tweet quoting his reality show.
UH-OH: This one seemed to think Trump simply didn’t know how to turnoff the caps lock
TOUGH GUY: Another Twitter user flat-out mocked his threatening message
WAR: And yet another wrote what he thought Trump was really thinking
WATCH MY SHOW: Rahul Kohli took the opportunity to plug his show
AVADA KEDAVRA: And Matt Bellassi quoted Harry Potter
‘To Iranian President Rouhani: THE FIRST NIGHT AT BED WHEN YOU LEFT, RON MADE OUT WITH 2 GIRLS AND PUT HIS HEAD BETWEEN A COCKTAIL WAITRESS’S BREAST.ALSO WAS GRINDING WITH MULTIPLE FAT WOMEN.MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN THE HOUSE KNOW,THEREFORE YOU SHOULD KNOW THE TRUTH’
Several people used lyrics from other songs, including Kid Rock’s Bawitdaba, Smash Mouth’s All Star, Guns N’ Roses’s Paradise City, Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl and Eminem’s Stan.
‘To Iranian President Rouhani: IF YOU OR A LOVED ONE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MESOTHELIOMA YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO FINANCIAL COMPENSATION,’ wrote one clever Twitter user.
Another quoted the intro of every Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Episode, while yet another quoted Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, firing off the first cardinal rule of perm maintenance.
